Running in similar conditions as the Carlsbad 5000, Jarrod Shoemaker, two-time winner of the Carlsbad 5000's open race, won the B.A.A 5K in Boston this morning with a time of 14:28.
Ireland's Alistair Cragg took third place in the invitational mile the day before the Boston Marathon. The mile was the first race for Cragg since recording a top-10 finish in Carlsbad, just falling short of the Irish National record by a few seconds.
"It was pretty much the same weather as Carlsbad," said Cragg, former collegiate all American at the University of Arkansas. "The crowd was similar to an indoor track meet, when you made a move everyone responded."
Cragg's next race will be in two weeks at a 5k in Stanford, California. The Carlsbad 5000 will celebrate its 25th anniversary on Sunday, April 11, 2010.
