Promote health and company camaraderie by signing up your group to run or walk. Awards will be presented to the company with the greatest number of participants.

City employees throughout southern California are invited to take the City Challenge and gather department employees to run or walk the Carlsbad 5000. Awards will be presented to the fastest city (top two times scored) and to the city with the most participants.

What is a group?
A group includes all types of organizations such as corporations, cities, running clubs, schools and universities that compete for most participants.
Do groups receive a discount?
Yes. Each member of the group will receive a $5 discount upon registration.
How large does a group have to be?
Ten people or more.
What are the group categories?
The group categories are:
- City Challenge – City, County, Municipal employees
- Corporate Cup – Colleagues, Co-workers, Business Associates
- Other Groups – Running Clubs, friends/family, schools, universities, etc.
What is a competitive team?
A team involves 3-5 individuals competing for the fastest time.
What are the competitive team categories?
The team categories are:
- Open Men – Men of any age group
- Open Women – Women of any age group
- Open Mixed – Men and women of any age group
- Masters Men –Men 40 years of age and older
- Masters Women – Women 40 years of age and older
- Military – Men and Women representing Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines and Navy
- Corporate – Male and Female colleagues, co-workers, business associates
Do all of our competitive team members have to run the same race?
No. However, to also be eligible for individual age group awards, you must run in the correct age/gender race.
How will the competitive teams be scored?
The fastest 3 times in each competitive team will be used to determine the fastest competitive team. At least one woman must score for the Open Mixed competitive team.
What size does our competitive team have to be?
Competitive teams must have 3-5 participants.
Are there awards offered to competitive teams and groups?
Yes. Special plaques will be awarded to competitive teams and groups with most participants and fastest competitive teams.
What is the price for team members?
$30 per person (through 12/31/08)
$40 per person (through 3/29/08)
No team registration on race weekend.
